The French writer turned artist was the older brother Balthus, and there’s more than just a passing family resemblance to their respective ouevres. Both conveyed enigmatic, erotically charged narratives heavy on rape and dirty old man fantasy, though Klossowski's figurative style was quite a bit more attenuated than his brother's. Still, sexual perversion has never looked more elegant than it does here in these large format colored-pencil drawings featuring soigné subjects committing unspeakable acts.
