“Redaction: A Project by Titus Kaphar and Reginald Dwayne Betts”

Artist and filmmaker Titus Kaphar joins forces with memoirist, poet and attorney Reginald Dwayne Betts to tackle criminal justice reform in this collaborative project featuring 30 prints that join Betts’s writings with Kaphar’s portraits of incarcerated individuals. At issue specifically in this work is the inequality of the bail system, where the accused unable to pay for release are remanded to custody even though they have not been tried and convicted.
