This show surveys Japanese narrative art from the the 13th to 19th centuries, offering examples in a variety of formats, including hand scrolls, albums, books, hanging scrolls, screens and playing cards. Themes include Buddhist and Shinto tales, warrior legends, romances and stories about the supernatural.
