Time Out says

Coming at the dawn of the 20th Century, World War I, or the Great War as it was known at the time, proved to be the first modern, mechanized conflict in history, a distinction made dubious by the tens of millions of casualties left in its wake. Modern artists (among them, Otto Dix, George Grosz and Fernand Léger) made work that responded to the carnage, while at the same time, home front populations were being mobilized by new tools of mass media and propaganda. Both of these aspects of the war’s impact on the culture of the period are explored in this show through official posters, prints and works on paper.
