Jason Hartley and Chuck Klosterman

Hartley's new book is The Advanced Genius Theory, which argues—provocatively, some music lovers will say—that forward-thinking musicians like Lou Reed and David Bowie didn't really lose their touch later in their careers; rather, they have worked their way into territories that lie "beyond our comprehension." If you say so! Klosterman, the author of the foreword to Hartley's book (as well as modern classics such as Killing Yourself in Order to Live), also weighs in on the debate.
