Taking your biweekly trip to the laundromat just turned into a much more exciting affair. Bushwick's Mermaid Laundromat opened a storefront sex shop and feminist bookstore delightfully titled the Troll Hole.
The store, which raised money through Indiegogo before opening, offers "sex positive 'zines, Japanese bondage rope, Beyonce-endorsed poetry collections and 100 percent natural glow in the dark lube that comes in a honey bear bottle," DNAinfo reports. Neato, I've never seen a glow-in-the-dark dick before! Friends Justin Shock, Hayley Blatt and Monica Yi opened the store in April after fostering the idea for a couple of years. The space also includes art and literature (mostly by women and people of color) for purchase, including a zine titled Hand Job and Warsan Shire’s "Teaching My Mother How To Give Birth," which you may know from a little album called "Lemonade" by Beyonce.
The owners encourage people to come in and play with the items and ask questions, and may start stocking used underwear (for the fetish scene) and throwing small events soon. We're always open to opportunities to get clean and dirty at the same time!
