Each week, we take two New Yorkers who swear they're totally undateable, and put our matchmaking skills to the test. Afterward, we find out what went well on their date, and what went horribly, horribly wrong.

First impression
Ariana: “I was five minutes late, which I felt bad about. He had kind of a boy-band look.
I was surprised how not stressed out he seemed; he looked way chiller than I felt.”
Kurt: “She didn’t really seem like my type. I like more artsy, hipster-type girls. She seemed more business because of the way she dressed. She was really short.”
Chemistry
Ariana: “I didn’t feel a connection—he seemed a little distracted. I felt like I was the camp counselor in charge of ordering food and making sure things were moving along.”
Kurt: “I was nervous, so I had a drink before to get loose. I didn’t have a bad time hanging out with her, but I generally don’t like female comedians. It’s just not my thing.”
Awkward Moment
Ariana: “He asked me to go to another bar, but it was taking a while, and then he was like, ‘I’m actually just going to go home.’ He changed his mind really quick about that.”
Kurt: “We were talking about Tinder, and she was basically implying that if the date goes well, she goes home with the dude. I didn’t know what to do with that one.”
Afterward
Ariana: “We walked to his car, and he offered to drive me to the subway. I didn’t take him up on that. We just had kind of a side hug, and then he was off.”
Kurt: “She was fun, so I asked her to get more drinks. But then I thought, This isn’t going to work out. So I was like, ‘I think I have to go.’ She probably didn’t like that too much.”
