Each week, we take two New Yorkers who swear they're totally undateable, and put our matchmaking skills to the test. Afterward, we find out what went well on their date, and what went horribly, horribly wrong.

Why they're single:
Breanna:She’s new to the city and doesn’t like dating apps.
Chris: He’s gone from long-term relationship to long-term relationship, so he doesn’t really know.

Ideal date:
Breanna: Dinner and drinks, then walking around afterward
Chris: Wandering in a park or a nice neighborhood and grabbing ice cream

THE DATE

First impression
Breanna: “Chris was sitting right there, so it was easy to find him. He stood up and said hi, which I thought was really nice. It was a little awkward at first, but then we started chatting.”
Chris: “I was 25 minutes early, so I made conversation with the bartenders. I thought Breanna was really pretty and had a warm aura to her and was very welcoming.”

Chemistry
Breanna:  “I’m a secret kind-of nerd, and we both really like The Lord of the Rings, which not many people do. Also, he went to college in Florida, and I did spring break there every year.”
Chris: “I didn’t pay much attention to what we didn’t have in common because the conversation kept flowing. It was refreshing. I had a smile on my face a whole lot.”

Awkward Moment
Breanna: “He was doing impressions. The Cartman [from South Park] one was funny, but the Owen Wilson one he’s still working on. I was laughing as much as I could.”
Chris: “I’m from New Jersey, and she said, ‘Wow, you were raised better than most people in New Jersey.’ And then, ‘I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean it like that.’ I was laughing so hard.”

Afterward
Breanna: “He walked me to the First Avenue [L] train and asked for my number. He kept asking me to hang out, but I said this is going to be a friend thing, and he was okay with that.”
Chris: “We gave each other a hug, and I wished her safe travels. I asked if she wanted to get coffee, and she said she sees this as more of a friends thing, and I said, ‘Okay, that’s fair.’ ”

Verdict
Breanna: ♥♥♥ “I think we got along well. He’s a really cool, nice guy, and he’s very gentlemanly, which you don’t find much around here. But I saw it as friendly.”
Chris:  ♥♥♥♥♥ “I had a great time. It was a lot of fun and a great atmosphere with great food and great company. All’s fair in love and war right? I’m not too broken up about it.”
