The date: Drinks and appetizers at Nerai (55 E 54th St, 212-759-5554)

First impression
Eric: “She has a warm, welcoming face, and she’s tall. I’m 5'5''; I’m basically at her shoulders, but it didn’t bother me. I’m not intimidated by taller women.”
Mandy: “He was sitting down, but I already saw that he was shorter than me. He looked really put-together. He seemed nice and approachable; he was very open.”

Chemistry
Eric: “It was a basic conversation. It seemed more friend-zone. I tried to joke as much as I could to see where she would pick up and flirt, but there was nothing.”
Mandy: “The conversation was easy. It was all just normal chitchat and getting-to-know-each-other stuff. He was a really chill guy, but there wasn’t a spark there for me.”

Afterward
Eric: “We walked to the subway, and I was like, ‘Hey, do you want to exchange numbers?’ She said, ‘Do you want to do that?’ I don’t know why. It felt kind of weird.”
Mandy: “When we were done with our drinks, he walked me to the subway and asked for my number. I gave it to him, and we hugged. He hasn’t been in touch.”

Awkward Moment
Eric: “She asked me what salons I work with, and she’d been to one. I asked about her experience, and she said she wouldn’t go back, so I knew we didn’t match.”
Mandy: “I’m 5'10''. We never talked about it, and if there had been a connection, it wouldn’t have made a difference. But I prefer people my height.”

Verdict
Eric: “I’m leaning toward not messaging her, or maybe I would on a whim. It was fun, but it didn’t really work. There was just nothing special.”
Mandy: “It was nice to sit and chat with someone I wouldn’t normally meet, but I don’t think we have common interests. I don’t really see it in the stars.”
