Each week, we take two New Yorkers who swear they're totally undateable, and put our matchmaking skills to the test. Afterward, we find out what went well on their date, and what went horribly, horribly wrong.

Why they're single:
Kelsey: She wasn’t really looking until recently and doesn’t like to play games. Also, she can rub some people the wrong way.
Luke: He’s kind of fallen into a pattern of staying home and playing video games.

Ideal date:
Kelsey: Something outside, like a sporting event
Luke: Starting at a bar and then going for a walk to get to know one another

THE DATE

First impression
Kelsey: “I walked in first, and he was there about a minute later. He made a good impression. He came across as friendly, normal and nice and seemed pretty chill.”
Luke:
“She reminded me of a mix of Megyn Kelly and Princess Diana with those classic looks but kind of a power pose. She was pretty but also had a way of exerting power.”

Chemistry
Kelsey: “The conversation was easier than some nonblind dates I’ve been on, I think because we both felt like the pressure was on. It felt like we went from strangers to friends.”
Luke:
“[The chemistry] was good, but I kind of get romantic vibes from everyone. I think I find myself accidentally seeking it. I fall in love on the subway every day.”

Awkward Moment
Kelsey: “At one point, he was like, ‘Do you watch Game of Thrones?’ and I said no. After that, he ended up talking to the waitress about [the show] for a bit.”
Luke:
“I’m a huge Game of Thrones nerd, and she said she didn’t watch it. So I kind of panicked for a second or two because I had planned on talking about that a lot.”

Afterward
Kelsey: “We were sitting there, thinking it was time to wrap up, but then he was like, ‘I have to go to the bathroom, but I’ll walk you out first.’ So he walked me out and then went back in.”
Luke:
“She actually ended with a power move, which really impressed me. She ordered some more food and took it to go. We exchanged numbers, then walked out.”

Verdict
Kelsey: ♥♥♥ “It was great to meet him. I didn’t feel a romantic spark, but he was really cool. I had a really fun night, overall. It was better than I thought it would be.”
Luke: ♥♥♥♥♥ “It was so much fun. I was so nervous for it, but nothing bad happened. I could 100 percent see us in a very serious relationship if it ended up happening.”

Our daters went to Gran Eléctrica (5 Front St, 718-852-2700)
