This year, Christmas was less about snow angels and spiked hot chocolate around the fireplace than it was about shorts and outdoor sports. With temps climbing into the mid-60s on Friday, the day felt anything but festive: anyone out there hoping for a white Christmas was certainly dreaming. Instead, the city took on a springlike atmosphere, as warm weather-lovers shed layers and went running in the park, surfing in the Rockaways and gaping at new blooms of roses and other flowers, whom mild temperatures have tricked into thinking it's already April. You had to see it to believe it, so in case you were at home in Wisconsin with the fam or chilling on a beach in Mexico, we've compiled some of the web's craziest snapshots from this freaky holiday season.

It was so warm that...

People went ice skating in tank tops...

...and T-shirts and shorts

Dog walkers hit Prospect Park in warm-weather duds

Surfers hung ten in the Rockaways

Roses, cherry blossoms and daffodils bloomed months ahead of time

Tourists busted out the hotpants and miniskirts

Central Park rock-perchers donned bare arms and legs...

...as did the park's joggers

And volleyball hardbodies took to the courts donning Santa hats but not much else. Merry Christmas to all, and praise the lord!
