John Lennon Tribute: Debbie Harry + Kate Pierson + David Johansen + Joan Osborne + Marshall Crenshaw + Amy Helm + Rich Pagano + Ben E. King: Dec 5 at Symphony Space
For 34 years, Theatre Within has honored the Smart Beatle's memory with an annual benefit concert, the proceeds of which have helped feed the hungry, build music schools in the developing world and support Hurricane Sandy relief efforts. This year's event boasts an all-star lineup, and includes a special set by Joan Osborne, who will be playing the last three songs Lennon ever played live, when he crashed an Elton John gig at MSG 40 years ago. Tickets are available now at lennontribute.org.
Mariah Carey: Dec 15, 16, 18, 20 at the Beacon Theater
This year, Mariah Carey's seasonal smash, Merry Christmas, turns 20. Mimi celebrates the anniversary with a series of dates at the Beacon, giving fans who still can't get enough of "All I Want for Christmas Is You" a very special present. Tickets are on sale Mon, Nov 10 at noon through Ticketmaster.
Meghan Trainor + Sheppard: Mar 13 at Irving Plaza
Pop-soul singer Meghan Trainor became a radio fixture this past summer with her booty-celebrating breakthrough, "All About That Bass". The size-savvy singer stops at Irving Plaza on the heels of her latest single, "Lips Are Movin'," and her upcoming major label debut, Title. Tickets are on sale Sat, Nov 8 at 10am through LiveNation.
Ok Go: Apr 11 at Terminal 5
The quirky Chicago alt-rock band—more famous for its music videos than for its actual music—has a new album, Hungry Ghosts, and, yes, a trippy, optical-illusion–laden video for the single “The Writing’s on the Wall.” But are people actually into the band? This big T5 gig suggests so. Tickets are available Fri, Nov 7 at noon through Ticketmaster.
Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga: June 22 at Radio City Music Hall
Bennett and Gaga have added a whopping third show at Radio City. The two previously announced gigs, on June 19 and 20, sold out almost immediately, and we don't expect these tickets to last long, either. The performers are in top form on their jazz standards album, Cheek to Cheek, so expect the same at these summer concerts. Tickets are on sale Fri, Nov 7 at 9am through Ticketmaster.
