Time Out says

Marketed as his “autobiographical novel,” Whitehead's Sag Harbor might draw on the author’s teen memories of summer on Long Island, but it feels just as inventive as his books The Intuitionist and John Henry Days. Whitehead’s descriptions of postadolescent friendship and summer jobs are a delight, and his storytelling is both wise and dryly hilarious.
