True, this concert is a bit more expensive than most offerings by ACJW, a top-flight group of students brought together by Carnegie Hall, the Juilliard School and the Weill Music Institute. But with good reason, as conductor Susanna Mälkki will lead the ensemble through both Schoenberg's Chamber Symphony No. 1 and John Adams's postminimalist response piece—the antic, highly entertaining Chamber Symphony. (In addition to being inspired by the Schoenberg piece, Adams's writing here is animated with an affection for cartoon music.) Jukka Tiensuu's Mora is also on the bill, as is the local premiere of George Benjamin's Three Inventions.
