My, how quickly they grow. When Lazer Sword's Antaeus Roy (whose nom de musique is Lando Kal) and Bryant Rutledge (rocking the Low Limit moniker) first came to our attention a couple of years back, the pair were making perfectly serviceable, nicely crunchy and crunky hip-hoppish beats. But on their brand-new sophomore LP, Memory (released on Modeselektor's Monkeytown label) the team kicks it up a notch—a big notch, at that—with precision-tooled rhythms that take in elements of house, electro, postdubstep, neorave and all kinds of sleek and groovy things that don't really have names. It's a great record, making us very excited that the duo is playing in NYC this weekend. And we're just as excited to have this equally fabulous mix from the boys, too!

Lazer Sword play at 285 Kent on Saturday, May 26.
