Cielo keeps it simple—but from a house-music lover's perspective, red-hot—at its year-ending bash, with a pair of iconic Baltimore DJ-producers running the show. DJ Spen rose to fame via studio work for the Basement Boys, but had a previous brush with fame in the mid-’80s when he and his band, Numarx, penned a little ditty called "Girl You Know It’s True”—the same tune that sold tons for Milli Vanilli in 1988. Karizma, another Basement Boys–affiliated producer, has been doing things his own way for years, twisting deep and soulful house to his own ends.
