Dog Eat Dog was the female-fronted combo that bubbled up from the same No Wave–era brew, circa 1980, that spawned such bands as ESG, Liquid Liquid and Konk. The group didn't release much music throughout its three-year lifespan, so it's faded somewhat from the memories of downtown Manhattanites—and many young'uns who love that loose-limbed, minimalist, naive-funk sound that defined the time have probably never even heard of the group in the first place. That's all changing with the release of a great self-titled compilation of live recordings and studio sessions on the Claremont 56 label. Members of the band will be holding court at this release soiree, while Liquid Liquid's Sal P will be on the wheels of steel.
