Last year, a curator asked Suzanne Bocanegra to give a lecture about her work; instead, she decided to narrate the tale of how she became an artist and the role of the Catholic Church in her life. In When a Priest Marries a Witch, the actor Paul Lazar delivers an "artist's talk" with projections as well as Bocanegra’s disembodied voice that tells the story at the same time. Part sound installation, part performance, the work features lighting by Laura Mroczkowski, sound design by Jody Elff and an underscore by David Lang.
