The New York Dance and Performance Awards

After a hiatus, the New York Dance and Performance Awards—known as the Bessies—are back, honoring six full productions from 2008–2009 and 2009–2010, along with six outstanding performers from the past two years. Lucy Sexton serves as the awards' independent producer; beginning this year the Bessies will be administered under the umbrella of Dance/NYC. Isaac Mizrahi hosts; presenters include H.T. Chen, Ishmael Houston-Jones, Virginia Johnson, Yvonne Rainer, Tina Ramirez, Gus Solomons Jr., Jock Soto, Elizabeth Streb and Jennifer Tipton. Tickets are free but must be reserved.
