"Graphic Heroes, Magic Monsters"

This exhibit features more than 100 paintings and prints by Japanese artist Utagawa Kuniyoshi, whose illustrations—featuring violent fight scenes and fantastical monsters—are clear forbears of manga and anime. As part of the exhibit, the museum has procured the services of a mangaka, or manga artist, who will create a special manga based on the exhibit and Kuniyoshi’s illustrations.
