Lascivious Something

Sheila Callaghan’s play owes debts to Albee, Shepard and others, but somehow produces its own special shocks. Several sketchy subplots notwithstanding, this is a classic love triangle: August (Rob Campbell) must choose between his young Greek wife (Elizabeth Waterston) and the girl he left behind (Dana Eskelson). But the more dirty secrets Callaghan uncovers, the more the play loses its bite, even as the characters sharpen their teeth and go in for the kill.—Pamela Newton
