Siegfried (Part 1 of Die Nibelungen)

The first half of Lang’s epic two-part masterpiece details the heroic exploits of the title character. It also features an awesomely realized full-size dragon (manipulated by a team of puppeteers) that snorts smoke and must be seen to be believed. Eat your heart out, Hobbit boy. Also on the bill is a compilation of excerpts from mostly lost films by directors like Victor Sjöström and Mauritz Stiller.
