The Dinner Game

The premise: A group of friends hosts a weekly dinner party, to which each brings the dumbest guest he can find. Not a bad recipe for hilarity; unfortunately (and inexplicably), Veber abandons it early on, choosing instead to demonstrate that flat pacing, clumsy compositions and uninspired drollery are irritating in any language. The American remake, Dinner for Schmucks, is currently in theaters.
