Klapisch’s When the Cat’s Away got a lot more attention, but his unusually cinematic adaptation of Jaoui and Jean-Pierre Bacri’s hit play is actually the better film, delivering the kind of precision-loaded high jinks that were once commonplace in Hollywood comedies.
