Most of the greats tackle a vampire tale at some point in their illustrious careers—look at Murnau, Browning, Polanski, Coppola—and here’s Dreyer’s contribution to the mythology: heavier on atmosphere than plot. It hits the right balance, though do note that this early sound film will be shown without subtitles.
