Speak Like a Sommelier: Learning the Language of Wine

Bone up on wine vocab at this tasting class, which offers an everyman's guide to sommelier rhetoric. Expert May Matta-Aliah—whose vino chops include a long-term stint as an instructor at the International Wine Center—will help demystify terms like tannins and body through a blind sampling. She will guide participants as they taste and evaluate eight wines, each variety representing one basic flavor element such as sweetness, fruit or acidity. Gratis nibbles of bread and cheese will accompany the tasting flight.
