Time Out says

The artist, Kehinde Wiley is known for depicting black men in powerful, regal portraits, leading him, in 2017, to create a beloved portrait of President Barack Obama.

To celebrate the Brooklyn Museum’s exhibit, “Jacques-Louis David Meets Kehinde Wiley Exhibit,” the cultural center has tapped nearby restaurant, Oxalis for a special one-night-only affair. The dinner, which intends to fuse food and art, will be spearheaded by chef and owner of Oxalis, Nico Russell who opened his “carte blanche” affordable tasting menu (with a tucked-away bar in the back), to much Prospect Heights fanfare.  The meal will look to the exhibit—which features Wiley’s Napoleon Leading the Army over the Alps (2005)  in conversation with Jacques-Louis David’s Bonaparte Crossing the Alps (1800–1)—to discuss the performance of masculinity. The $200 ticket prices offers an exclusive chance to visit the exhibit, followed by a procession of six courses (and wine pairings) by Russell and his team. Tax and tip is included.

Meet at at 6pm in the lobby of the Brooklyn Museum (200 Eastern Parkway, Brooklyn, NY 11238).
