Alela Diane + Matt Bauer

Portland, OR's Alela Diane has a deliciously full-bodied voice and a pleasingly curious musical turn of phrase. Her third album, last year's gorgeous Alela Diane & Wild Divine (Beggars), sees her moving away from the bare-bones folk arrangements of yore and into soft ’70s-rock territory. A fine thing. In support, Matt Bauer conjures a warm yet slightly eerie mood with his banjo-driven alt folk, as on his darkly delicate album The Jessamine County Book of the Living.
