It happens all the time, we're sure: A talented young singer-songwriter moves to New York with her family band; works for a decade at a variety of odd jobs, including a singing-waitress gig at Ellen's Stardust Diner; gets discovered by a Nashville talent scout…and then has a song covered by Korean pop troupe Girls' Generation go to No. 1 in South Korea and Japan.
