Born to a French mother and a Chilean father waiting out Pinochet's rule in Europe, Ana Tijoux emerged from Santiago’s hip-hop scene as part of the group Makiza. On her new album, La Bala, Tijoux breezily lays Spanish (and occasionally French) raps over low, mellow grooves. This week she plays two NYC shows; tonight she headlines an intimate date at the Knit, with Rebel Diaz opening.
