Avant Music Festival

The downtown festival picks up steam with a marathon concert celebrating the unmatched contributions to contemporary music of centennial-birthday boy John Cage. Stop by at 4pm for a performance of Cage's prepared-piano extravaganza Sonatas and Interludes by Vicky Chow. Composers Eve Beglarian, Randy Gibson and Jenny Olivia Johnson participate in a free roundtable discussion at 5:30pm. The evening concert features the wind quartet loadbang, Chow and a host of other new-music denizens performing Living Room Music, Concert for Piano and Orchestra, Ryoanji and Four3.
