Local postlounge crooner Baby Dayliner offers one of the city's most pleasurable and eccentric pop experiences. Sure, his band's beats are funky and fun, but the lyrics have a disarming core of self-reflection that makes for a wry, sophisticated whole on his latest, Critics Pass Away. Tonight the group joins half-British, half-American group Five O'Clock heroes, who rework all that orgiastic '80s keyboard sound, yet do so in a way that feels genuine and maintains a scruffy, punk sensibility. Also on the bill is Cookies, formed from the debris of Mobius Band.
