Think of Bladerunner as the sequel to Painkiller, an ever-mutating outfit that originally teamed avant-garde improv heavyweights John Zorn and Bill Laswell with classic-era Napalm Death drummer Mick Harris. Here, an even more feared and revered stickman joins the saxist and bassist: Dave Lombardo, whose thunderous, ultraprecise double-bass onslaught fueled the majority of the Slayer discography. Lombardo was unceremoniously ejected from that thrash powerhouse last year, so tonight's gig might be your only chance to catch the percussive legend live anytime soon, let alone in a room of this size. Expect nothing less than a deafening aural exorcism.
