This weeklong festival explores opera's great beyond, presenting four works-in-development by young composers and librettists (Mar 27–Thu 29; see theflea.org for a detailed schedule), followed by three performances of a John Cage triple bill that runs from Fri 30 to Sun 1. The brainchild of stage director Grethe Holby and music director Joe Kubera, the production features the first New York performance of Cage's final opera, Europera 5, since its premiere in 1992.Also on the roster are Cage's dramatic arrangement of Erik Satie's Socrate, and Cheap Imitation, music for dance inspired by the Satie.
