The city is always flooded with Bach around Easter, but this year there's a standout: one of the world’s greatest choirs performing St. Matthew Passion, one of the composer’s most remarkable achievements. This Belgian ensemble began 40 years ago as a group of friends who shared a unique vision of Renaissance and Baroque practices; it has since evolved into a world-class ensemble that effortlessly slides between periods and styles. But Bach remains its specialty, and with charismatic young tenor Julian Prégardien as Evangelist, this one-night-only performance will be nothing less than transcendent. Tickets are a hot commodity, so be sure to book in advance.
