BOAT churns out classically quirky indie pop—part whimsical and part heartsick. You'll feel like you've heard these songs before, but it's really the potent high-school emotions in the Seattle outfit's music that are so achingly familiar. Likewise, Philly's Drink Up Buttercup takes a punky, irreverent approach to exuberant, old-school psych-pop. Add mysterious glam rockers DOM and Sub Pop–signed garage poppers Happy Birthday, and you have one heck of a bill.
