Eli "Paperboy" Reed and the True Loves + April Smith and the Great Picture Show

Boston-bred retro-soul dude Eli "Paperboy" Reed can’t lay claim to tunes as memorable as those by Amy Winehouse or Duffy: You’ll spin Come and Get It!, his major-label debut following a couple of buzzed-about indie discs, several times before any of the hooks make a home in your head. But as his goofy stage name suggests, he's a real up-and-at-’em type, which means he never gives his vocal performances less than 100 percent of his energy. He's joined by sassy Brooklyn singer April Smith, who taps into vintage sounds with an up-to-date flair.
