Northside Festival. Singer-songwriter Elvis Perkins's gorgeous 2007 album, Ash Wednesday, has nothing to do with Lent and everything to do with loss. His mother fell victim to the 9/11 attacks, and his father, actor Anthony Perkins, died of AIDS, so Elvis knows a lot about the subject. He's planning to offer more insight with this fall's The Doomsday EP, from which he'll likely play this afternoon. First, Louisiana-born bluesy folkster AA Bondy performs songs from When the Devil's Loose, his soft, rough voice at the center.
