Cellist Mike Block, a young alum of Yo-Yo Ma's Silk Road Ensemble, embarks on his own cross-genre undertaking: an ambitious Brooklyn-based series featuring collaborations between top talent from pop, classical, folk and world-music circles. Tonight's musical stew includes Chinese folk musician Hu Jianbing and percussionist Shane Shanahan, both buddies from the Silk Road, the bright young Enso String Quartet, Sufjan Stevens's saxophonist Hideaki Aomori and hip-hop dance duo (CXC)=Streetstyle Contemporary.
