Next to Doctor Funkenstein himself, singer and guitarist Garry Shider was surely the most recognizable denizen of the sprawling Parliament-Funkadelic omniverse. Cowriter of hits "One Nation Under a Groove" and "Atomic Dog," the diaper-clad Shider lost his battle with cancer in June; tonight, P-Funk cohorts Bernie Worrell, Bigfoot Brailey and Blackbyrd McKnight, as well as luminaries like Living Colour, Melvin Gibbs and Lady Miss Kier, pitch in to commemorate Shider and raise funds for his family.
