Gerald Cleaver's Uncle June + Chris Lightcap's Bigmouth

You may have heard Gerald Cleaver's deeply responsive drumming in projects helmed by any number of avant-jazz luminaries. Here the local fixture shows off his own band-leading acumen, performing in support of a strange and lushly enveloping new CD, Be It as I See It, a highlight of the young year. Kicking off the evening at 8pm is another versatile sideman who emerges all too infrequently as a superlative writer and leader: bassist Chris Lightcap, whose quintet Bigmouth features Cleaver on drums.
