Givers + Doe Paoro

Givers, a quintet of college buddies from Lafayette, LA, have captured a sound best described as swamp pop: polyrhythmic percussion, astutely repeated hooks, zingy guitar fills, call-and-response vocals (in which words begin properly and end in ecstatic yelps) and spastic rhythms that can incite a room full of hipsters to do the jitterbug (or an interpretation of it, anyway). This is celebratory music suited for a Mardi Gras party, but these musicians aren’t just happy—they’re also very, very good.
