In the past five-plus years, the Gnu Vox series has provided a valuable platform for emerging singers and the occasional star, as well as a destination for community—performers and audience alike—to meet and bond. Alas, no more: David Devoe, the young vocalist who launched the series, presides over its farewell installment prior to leaving New York for grad school. The grand finale, “Pretending to Care: An Intervention for David Devoe,” includes performances by Devoe and fellow singers Julie Hardy, Wendy Gilles and Alison Wedding, all of whom will also recite (sight unseen) comedic monologues written by Jack Ferver. Naturally, unbilled guests are anticipated.
