These long-running student-union staples don’t get much respect from the critical establishment, or from hip indie types who categorize Guster alongside Maroon 5, the Dave Matthews Band and Jason Mraz as Music for People Without the Internet. And those indie folks aren’t necessarily wrong about Guster: With its cheery melodies, bopping rhythms and bright acoustic guitars, the band’s sixth full-length, Easy Wonderful, is a staunchly middle-of-the-road affair, fully comprehensible minus even the slightest familiarity with chillwave, rape gaze or Die Antwoord.
