Hubert Sumlin

B.B. King's guitar peer Hubert Sumlin is much sought after these days as a Delta original, even though the almost-80-year-old Arkansas native's career didn't actually take off until he left the South to join Howlin' Wolf in Chicago in 1954. You might mistake Sumlin for your besuited granddad, until he begins to shred those hammered guitar leads from Wolf classics like "Smokestack Lightning," "Killing Floor" and "Hidden Charms."
