Il ballo delle ingrate

Amanda Keil and her upstart early-opera company, Musica Nuova, complete their inaugural season with their first full-length opera production. They'll present a rare staging of Monteverdi's 1608 masque about what befalls poor Cupid when women stop heeding their lovers' wishes. The performance is complemented with a new pastiche of Monteverdi songs and English narrative, fashioned by Grant Herreid (who's also conducting) and Lawrence Rosenwald. Dorothy Olsson provides choreography.
