Jeff Mangum

Blog types like to call the Neutral Milk Hotel singer "indie rock's J.D. Salinger," which, much as we love Mangum, is kind of pushing things: Yes, he released two terrific albums in the ’90s; no, neither is a classic of the American arts canon, to be taught in high schools for generations to come. Mangum recently emerged from his self-imposed stage exile, after a good decade, last month curating ATP, and making an appearance for Occupy Wall Street.
