Tenorist Lew Tabackin spent much of his career playing in a big band led by his wife, pianist Toshiko Akiyoshi. With that orchestra retired, Tabackin gets to show off the gorgeous tone that was often hidden in Akiyoshi’s burnished reed section. Here he leads a trio with bassist Boris Kozlov and drummer Mark Taylor.
