Phosphorescent is a Brooklyn (by way of Athens, GA) band featuring singer-songwriter Matthew Houck and a cast of hirsute rogues. Houck’s voice cracks and moans in ways reminiscent of Will Oldham, yet over the course of five albums, he's become something of a bona fide rock star; brand-new disc Here's to Taking It Easy plays like a grooving update of the Stones' Exile on Main Street with a dash of Every Which Way But Loose–style loucheness thrown in. The grooving, slightly shambolic Phosphorescent live show is not to be missed.
