Stage director R. B. Schlather and dramaturg Joseph Cermatori have created this experimental drama for voices and piano that links together song cycles, art songs and poems. Some Call Refuge includes works by contemporary composers Ryan Homsey, Michael Ippolito and Eric Lemmon; art songs from David Lang and Barbara Monk Feldman; and poetry by Anna Akhmatova, Aleksandr Blok, Longfellow and Poe. Singers include baritone Kelvin Chan, soprano Joélle Harvey and mezzo-soprano Kate Maroney.
